It has been less than three months since the death of an Iowa girl named Mollie Tibbetts. Most Americans know by now that her life was brought to a violent end by an illegal immigrant named Cristhian Rivera. Another violent attack at the hands of an illegal immigrant recently took place. After he killed one person and wounded two others in an attack that took place Sunday on a fishing vessel sailing off the coast of Massachusetts an illegal immigrant from Mexico was charged with murder. A statement that was released by the U.S. Attorney’s office stated that 27 year old Franklin Freddy Meave Vasquez was charged Monday with one count of murder and one count attempted murder within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States for the incident.
In a document that was prepared by prosecutors it was reported that the fishing vessel, the Captain Billy Haver, was approximately 55 miles off of the coast of Nantucket when the vicious attack took place. There were seven crew members aboard the Captain Billy Haver, when Franklin Freddy Meave Vasquez savagely attacked one of the members with a knife in one hand and a hammer in his other hand. The crew member who he attacked would be the second one that he attacked the night of the murder, because they were able to report seeing another man lying on the ships deck bleeding. After attacking the second crew member who survived his attack, Franklin Freddy Meave Vasquez went after a third member of the crew of the Captain Billy Haver.
When discussing the details that they know about the incident that took place on the Captain Billy Haver, the U.S. Attorney’s office said, “it is further alleged that Vazquez then climbed up the mast of the ship as the others onboard tried to capture him.”
A distress call that was put out by the ships captain reporting the attack that took place was answered by a German cruise ship called Mein Schiff 6. Two of the three members of the Captain Billy Haver crew who were attacked by Franklin Freddy Meave Vasquez were taken aboard the Mein Schiff 6. A doctor aboard the Mein Schiff 6 pronounced one of the two crew members from the Captain Billy Haver dead.
The captain of the Mein Schiff 6 did not tell its passengers all of the details about what was taking place. All the passengers heard from the captain was that they had to go and assist a fishing vessel where there had been an incident onboard. While talking to the media about what occured a passenger from the Mein Schiff 6 named Fiona Peters told Boston 25 news, “they just let us know we had to rescue two people. I was sitting in a bar having coffee and reading a newspaper. And then I looked outside and saw that.”
This is not the first run in that law enforcement in the United States has had with Franklin Freddy Meave Vasquez. Despite a previous deportation Franklin Freddy Meave Vasquez was in the country illegally. He was arrested in Virginia six months ago for abduction by force, intimidation, or deception. After being charged earlier this year he was released on bond. If convicted of the murder that he has been charged with Franklin Freddy Meave Vasquez faces up to life in prison and $500,000 in fines followed by immediate deportation after his sentence is served.
