Democrats are encouraged from an unlikely source to support Nanci Pelosi

While it is no secret that there is a strong animosity between liberals and President Trump, recently instead of being the target of his words of anger Democrats have become the target of President Trump’s sense of humor. Each day that passes it seems as though the number of Democrats that wish to place distance between themselves and Nanci Pelosi continues to grow. Nanci Pelosi doesn’t need to worry though because no matter how many Democrats turn their backs on her President Trump has her back. Of course, as I sit here writing this I am having a hard time keeping a straight face at the same time. In fact I’m actually laughing about the situation.

Friday evening President Trump tweeted “Democrats, please do not distance yourselves from Nancy Pelosi. She is a wonderful person whose ideas & policies may be bad, but who should definitely be given a 4th chance. She is trying very hard & has every right to take down the Democrat Party if she has veered too far left!”

There is no way that even a blind man would be able to miss the sarcasm that just oozes out of the presidents words. However, sarcasm aside the truth is his interest in whether or not Nanci Pelosi has the backing of the Democrats is probably very real. A primary tactic that has been used by House Republicans a lot has been being able to tie Democrat hopefuls to Nanci Pelosi while they present her as some sort of boogeyman. Like an overwhelming majority of the congressional leaders, the California Democrat finds herself out of favor of the American people which can be proven when one considers her low national approval ratings.

In an act of desperation that shows a strong interest in self preservation more and more Democrat candidates have let it be known that they refuse to back Nanci Pelosi for speaker of the house if their party can succeed at taking control of the House in November. If like me, you have a strong dislike for Democrats then I wouldn’t worry too much about the Democrats being successful. On the other hand if you are a Democrat and find yourself reading this, since I feel generous I am going to try to make things real for you. You probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than you do in seeing the Democrats take over the House in November. NBC news recently released a list of 51 Democrat candidates who have completely distanced themselves from Pelosi as much as they could without turning into a Republican themselves. Trump’s reference to a fourth chance for Nanci Pelosi hints at what I was just trying to tell you about. Ever since losing their majority to the GOP, Democrats have failed on three previous occasions to take back the House. They failed in 2012, 2014, and 2016.

It was shortly after the last loss suffered by the Democrats in 2016 that others in the party started to turn on Nanci Pelosi in the interest of self preservation. Despite the number of Democrats that started turning against her after the last defeat that the Democrat party suffered in 2016 it was not enough to keep her from beating out Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan by approximately a 2 to 1 vote margin. However it should be noted that a speakers race is an entirely different kind of beast to handle. Not only would Pelosi need majority support from the House Democratic Caucus, she would also need to have majority of the votes from the House itself to elect her as speaker on the floor.

The odds of her receiving any votes from Republicans is pretty much none at all, so the only chance that Nanci Pelosi really has of becoming speaker of the House is if the Democrats who have promised not to support her change their mind and back her on the floor when it comes time to vote. At the moment I would personally say that any hopes Nanci Pelosi has in regards to her career in politics is on life support. This November it will nice to see the plug pulled.
