It should not really be much of a surprise to anyone that MSNBC is biased in how they report the news to the American people. In fact Media Bias/Fact Check gives MSNBC a left rating on their bias scale. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Media Bias/Fact Check left is as far as one can go to the left before they enter that area where they are considered extreme. In other words most of the things that we hear from MSNBC more than likely isn’t worth our attention as much as watching paint dry on the wall may be. In a clear display of their bias attitudes and disrespect for the U.S. Constitution that was a key element in our great nation getting started MSNBC host Katy Tur questioned whether the originalist interpretation of the U.S. Constitution was still appropriate in the year 2018. Katy Tur believes that Americans have become more liberal over the years which means we need to look at the U.S. Constitution differently.
On her show Katy Tur asked conservative guest J.D. Vance, “based on where Americans stand on the issues, and Americans have really moved in a much more progressive direction over the years, do you think it’s appropriate to continue to take such a strict, originalist view of the Constitution, given it’s 2018 and not 1776?” The host really needs to go back and do some checking up on her history because the U.S. Constitution was not written and signed until 1777.
Vance answered her question respectfully when he said, “well, I don’t know that Americans have become more progressive on everything. Certainly, times have changed since 1776, but how you interpret the Constitution is ultimately different from what policy preferences you want, and this is a point that conservatives make pretty often about the Supreme Court, that whether you want the laws to move in a progressive or a conservative direction, the Supreme Court is a separate institution with a separate mandate under our constitutional structure.”
According to MSNBC host Katy Tur President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee holds a much more uncompromising view on such hot issues as abortion, political campaign spending and unions. She continued to disrespect the U.S. Constitution and questioning its relevance when she said, “well, the arc of history has shown that opinions have become more progressive, and even just lately on the issues that are potentially going to become before the court, or issues that have been ruled on relatively recently by the Court, Americans are more progressive. Look at the polling.”
In order to support this statement that she made Katy Tur referenced surveys that show a large number of Americans are in favor of Roe vs Wade. What she failed to make clear in her reference to the polls is that a large number of these Americans also believe that there is a division on the belief of how far the right to have an abortion should be allowed to stretch and at what point in the pregnancy should it become illegal to have an abortion. She further accused Republicans of trying to have their cake and eat it to when she realized that she could not win the argument that she had tried to instigate.
At no time during her interview with J.D. Vance did she really show any intelligence or say anything that might be worth the paper it was printed on. For example Katy Tur failed to take into consideration that polls more times than not are often flawed and that it is not a judges job to make their decision according to a poll, but instead a judge is supposed to make their decision according to past precedent.
