Speak “Sharpely” And Make An Impact

Barack Obama was absolutely right, “elections have consequences.”

I stopped writing endorsement letters a short while ago, there is something about jumping on a bandwagon of sorts that ultimately leads to disappointment somewhere down the road. Far too often we turn mere men into giants and expect them to slay dragons. In the world of power politics, the giants and the dragons seem to be the same thing- monsters.

I do however believe when there is a chance to do something that can make a difference, free men have the obligation to do so. Next week Larry Sharpe is going to announce his run for Governor of New York. If you’re a Republican in New York, you have to begin to ask if you want to actually rein in the massive state control of individual freedom or if you want another tax and spend Republican who ignores the GOP legacy of Reagan and Coolidge. Option C is the same progressive leviathan Democrat you’ve been dealing with for years. If you’re a Libertarian, now is the time to engage in the one race in the United States that has the heart, brains, and commitment to actually win.

Larry Sharpe has the gut and the grit to make the hard choices. I don’t agree with Larry 100%, but my 80% friend is not my 20% enemy. New Yorkers are more alike then they give themselves credit, and carry the same concerns as Americans across the nation. How will I feed my family? How can I be who I truly am? Does my future look brighter or worse?

As a former Marine and a businessman, Larry knows hardship more hardship than some of us will see in a lifetime, but he never backed down. Larry doesn’t preach a vague Utopian message, he talks about the story of here and now to individuals, not faceless masses. Larry doesn’t build bridges for the sake of doing so, he reaches across the aisle and learns the struggles of those around him for the sake of promoting the same freedom for all of us as he wants for himself. Libertarianism isn’t just a code, but a lifestyle.

Independents, progressives, and conservatives at their root want one thing, a world without unnecessary violence or force. Larry Sharpe openly and clearly wants a government that doesn’t hurt people or take their stuff. If there was ever a race that free men and women from across the nation should reach out and support, I think it’s this one.
