Law And Order Is Downstream From Culture

Law and order

Popular journalist Paul Joseph Watson recently released a video entitled “Conservatism is the NEW Counter-Culture” which breaks down the concept of the left wing becoming the establishment (in culture, and in law) and the right wing becoming the anti-establishment. Paul lays out some great points, including this quote by the late Andrew Breitbart: “Politics is downstream of culture.”

Of course, the more time I’ve spent observing the insanity of the leftist establishment, particularly the Hollywood wing, the more I’ve come to believe that this statement by Breitbart was absolutely prescient. We are now seeing a culture where a paranoid, grey haired, retirement-aged man clutching a flag around himself is seen as part of “#theresistance”.

The idea that the globalist left — which has held full control of the political establishment (as long as you include George W. Bush, which I do) and the media establishment for about thirty years — is in any way counter-cultural is about as logical as Darth Vader’s empire shooting a bunch of furry Ewoks and calling themselves the rebellion.

The Katy Perrys and the Madonnas and the regressive Twitter pundits of the world are convinced they’re the heroes of A New Hope – when in reality, they’re the bad guys, and the rest of us are watching The Empire Strikes Back.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so divisive and destructive to America and the world.

A big part of the reason it’s so destructive is this strange idea that enforcing the Law of The Land and controlling borders makes Trump’s America some sort of Evil Racist White Supremacist Capitalist Patriarchy Superstate™. The fact that “don’t deport criminal illegal aliens” has become not only a tenable position, but a popular position is insanity.

It is a bizarre thing to witness. As an early-90’s baby, I may not be quite old enough to have been cognizant of the grunge era, but I am old enough to remember that counter-culture was a left wing thing, even if it had already started to move into the mainstream thought process. But I also remember a time where people actually thought that following the law was a normal part of life. Watching “Cops” wasn’t considered a racist act when I was growing up, although I’m almost certain it would be seen that way today. I was taught that people protested, and that it was generally a good thing. I was taught to respect the police. To never pull a fire alarm under any circumstances short of there being a fire.

It doesn’t seem like even well educated university students understand these things today.

This culture of lawlessness has only moved more and more quickly to the extreme in recent years. Politics is downstream from culture. Breitbart was proven absolutely right, and it is only becoming more clear with each new day under President Trump.

But I would also argue that law and order as a concept in itself is downstream from culture.

It takes a special kind of brilliance to convince people that the very set of laws which exist to keep them safe and to protect their liberty are some kind of fascist concoction of hate. And this is exactly what the left has managed to do, through Black Lives Matter, through Antifa, through illegal immigration advocates, through Islamists.

We have people who are convinced that it’s the cool thing to do to oppose any sort of border, any sort of vetting, any sort of deportation, even for violent and dangerous criminals. In Canada earlier this month, a radical Islamist gave a speech to a crowd in front of the United States consulate stating that:

“We must break down the borders that keep out migrants and refugees. We must tear down the prisons and the detention centers.

We will seize the farms and the factories. We must become the enemies, so that in this city everyone can live with food, shelter, dignity.

We must become the enemies that sow terror in their hearts so that laws like C-51 shredded away.

We must celebrate our way of life, what they called barbaric cultural practices on our streets and in our homes until their way of life dissipates under our feet.

Let us become enemies. Let us organize. Let us win. We cannot wait. Freedom is calling. This is what these demands, that demand of us, let us be enemies”

The media won’t touch this. In fact I’m convinced that, were it getting any attention in the press, a liberal commentator would be trying to turn the whole insane matter into being the fault of Donald Trump.

And it is insanity that this sort of anti-Canadian and anti-American calls for war go unnoticed, by the way. Only in a culture of lawlessness would this be the sort of sentiment being aired on city streets across the West on a daily basis. But to me, that’s actually the lesser point. The point, to me, is this:

They have finally normalized open borders, cultural relativism, and refusal to enforce laws .

Which, by definition, means that those who oppose these things are now the counter-culture. Law and order is the new black.

The liberals don’t like this idea, but it is what it is. And until the left shows even the slightest interest in a non-hyper-partisan culture?

We will stay divided.

But the right knows what comes after “divide”:

And when one side is armed with guns, the support of the military, and the support of the police…It’s clear just who would be doing the conquering.

Without law and order, the left will be destroyed. Careful what you wish for.
